Lecture: Scary/Haunted New York

Oct23

In its more than 400-year history, New York City and the surrounding area have seen their fair share of ghosts, goblins, and other creepy-crawlies, and no corner is safe from paranormal activity, whether it's a nondescript Soho building, one of the most famous landmarks in the five boroughs, or areas just out of the city limits. Some of our most famous ghosts include: Dylan Thomas, Theodosia Burr, Edgar Allen Poe, and the Headless Horseman. You will learn about some of the most haunted sites in the City, some theater superstitions, and some places where you can dine and drink with the spirits (and we don’t mean alcohol). Also, if you are interested in finding out about being tarred and feathered, shot by the Black Hand in Little Italy, being caught in a great fire or ravishing flood, participating in a riot, attending some fascinating trials, seeing the City being destroyed on film, or encountering some of the most unsavory characters who ever lived in New York, then this is the presentation for you.
