Firefighters and police rescued a resident from a fire at a North Hills home on Saturday morning, according to Nassau County officials.

The Manhasset Fire Department and Nassau County Police responded to a 9:26 a.m. fire call at a townhouse on Hornbill Drive, according to news releases from the police department and David Maickel, a captain in the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office.

Responding officers and firefighters saw flames coming from the front door and removed a resident through a window, officials said.

The resident and a police officer were transported to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation, police said. Two firefighters were treated at the scene for minor injuries, Maickel said.

The Manhasset Fire Department extinguished the fire with assistance from neighboring departments in Port Washington, Carle Place, Great Neck, New Hyde Park and Plandome, Maickel said. Approximately 75 firefighters responded to the incident.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office and the Nassau County Police Department's Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating the cause of the fire, officials said.
