Long Island rainfall totals for August 17-19 storms: Search the map

Unexpected storms inundated Long Island this weekend, dropping nearly 10 inches of rainfall in some parts and causing extensive flooding.
Meteorologists said between 6 to 10 inches of rain fell overnight and warned that by 1 a.m. between 2 to 4 inches of rain were falling per hour.
The highest rainfall amounts on Long Island occurred in Miller Place and Stony Brook, which both recorded more than 9 inches, according to the National Weather Service.
Commack, St. James, East Setauket and Smithtown all recorded more than 7 inches of rain. More than 6 inches of rain fell in Dix Hills, Setauket, Hampton Bays and Selden, the weather service reported Monday morning.
In Nassau County, more than 4 inches of rain fell in North Massapequa and Old Westbury, officials said.
