Newsday's top 50 high school girls flag football players for spring 2026

Newsday's annual list of the top 50 Long Island high school girls flag football players, listed in alphabetical order, for this spring. All stats listed are from last season unless otherwise noted.
Lindsay Adams, Hauppauge, RB/WR/DL, Jr.
She has started since her freshman year and was named second-team All-Long Island after recording 518 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.
Jaelynn Burgess, West Babylon, WR/DB, Soph.
Burgess has reliable hands. She had 821 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, along with 10 pass breakups and 10 interceptions.
Cassandra Canales, Glen Cove, Edge, Jr.
The 4-11 edge rusher leads the Glen Cove defense. She had 106 flag pulls.
Scarlet Carey, Harborfields, WR/QB/LB, Sr.
Carey had nine interceptions, including two returned for touchdowns. She had 86 total flags and seven total touchdowns.
Hazel Carson, Northport, RB/LB, Sr.
She rushed for 702 yards and had 560 receiving yards for 10 total touchdowns, along with six interceptions.
Valentina Castelli, Commack, WR/DB, Jr.
The top receiving threat for the Cougars, Castelli recorded 70 receptions for 1,098 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Makaylaa Chestnut, Glen Cove, RB, Sr.
The senior tailback had 900 rushing yards along with 300 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
Abby Christie, Sachem East, WR/DB, Sr.
The 5-10 senior hauled in 88 receptions for 850 yards and five touchdowns, while getting 30 flag pulls.

Alyssa Cohen, East Meadow, QB, Sr.
Cohen is the leader for the Jets in their second season. She threw for 10 touchdowns and rushed for four.
Siena Cummo, Syosset, WR/DB, Sr.
Cummo leads an experienced Syosset team. She had 11 total touchdowns, four interceptions and 45 flag pulls.
Meghan Farrell, West Islip, QB/S, Jr.
One of the most versatile players on Long Island, Farrell threw for 2,078 yards and ran for 1,007 yards and totaled 47 touchdowns. She also had 13 interceptions.
Joeyce Forero, Valley Stream, QB, Soph.
Forero was named second-team All-Long Island as a freshman. She is a talented dual-threat quarterback who elevates the play of everyone around her.
Zoe Franks, Half Hollow Hills, WR/LB, Sr.
The first-team All-Long Island selection had 122 receptions for 1,370 yards and 18 touchdowns. She added 49 flag pulls and seven interceptions.
Kate Franks, Plainedge, Edge/RB, Sr.
Franks is a relentless pass rusher and is always around the ball. She had 76 flag pulls and 19 sacks, while adding 883 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns.

Taylor Gabel, Deer Park, QB/DB, Sr.
Gabel threw for 22 touchdowns and ran for another eight. She was a ball hawk on defense, recording nine interceptions.
Taylor Garro, MacArthur, WR/DL, Sr.
The All-Nassau selection caught 32 passes for 310 yards and six touchdowns. She also had 50 flag pulls, six sacks and two interceptions.
Grace Gilmartin, Northport, QB, Sr.
The second-team All-Long Island selection threw for 2,665 yards and ran for 684 yards, totaling 18 touchdowns.
Regan Glick, Roslyn, WR/LB, Sr.
Glick is a dynamic playmaker and had 24 receiving touchdowns. She added 80 flag pulls and eight interceptions.
Emma Gould, Half Hollow Hills, Edge/RB, Jr.
Gould had 48 sacks and 136 flag pulls. She also had 37 catches for 221 yards and seven touchdowns.

Abby Gregory, Division, WR/DB, Sr.
Gregory had 626 receiving yards and 412 rushing yards and totaled 28 touchdowns. She added eight interceptions and 27 flag pulls.
Reagan Groh, Sachem North, WR/DB, Jr.
Groh registered 114 flag pulls and 11 interceptions. She caught 48 passes for 494 yards and five touchdowns.
Kylie Hagan, Rocky Point, RB/LB, Jr.
Hagan had 110 carries for 940 yards and eight touchdowns. She added 41 receptions for 315 yards and three touchdowns, and is also the leader of the Eagles' defense.
Samantha Heyman, Half Hollow Hills, QB/LB, Sr.
The Long Island Dual Player of the Year threw for 3,954 yards and 60 touchdowns. She added 1,501 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns along with 55 flag pulls and 16 interceptions, including four for touchdowns.
Mackenzie Hughes, Patchogue-Medford, QB, Sr.
The first-team All-Long Island selection has a terrific arm. She threw for 3,756 yards and 59 touchdowns and added 246 rushing yards.
Ava Hunt, Division, QB, Sr.
Hunt reads the field well and makes great decisions. She threw for 766 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Gina Iannuzzi, MacArthur, QB/S, Jr.
The second-team All-Long Island selection completed 68% of her passes. She threw for 2,025 yards and 31 touchdowns.
Jazmynn Julien, Whitman, WR/RB/DB, Jr.
The 5-10 junior is a tremendous athlete. She turned 107 carries into 758 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Sofia Larrea, Sachem East, QB, Jr.
The 5-3 junior threw for 2,400 yards and 23 touchdowns. She added 900 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
Nevin Letren, Whitman, DB/RB, Jr.
Letren had 80 flag pulls and five interceptions. She added 390 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Kaylin Mallon, Connetquot, QB, Sr.
Mallon is a dangerous threat in the run game. She totaled 1,125 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
Mia Mangano, Shoreham-Wading River, WR/DB, Sr.
In her first flag football game, Mangano scored six touchdowns (two rushing, two receiving and two interception returns) — all in the first 15 minutes. She is an impact player for the Wildcats.
Aniela Marino, Sayville, QB/DB, Jr.
Marino is athletic and has a nose for the ball as a safety. She will take over quarterback duties this season.
Brianna Mauro, Glenn, WR/LB, Sr.
Mauro had 102 flag pulls and five interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. She also totaled eight touchdowns in Glenn’s county title run.

Ella Melo, Patchogue-Medford, WR/LB, Jr.
The All-Suffolk selection had 110 flag pulls and eight interceptions. She recorded 36 catches for 217 yards and nine touchdowns.
Taylor Mileti, Hauppauge, QB/S/LB/P, Sr.
The first-team All-Long Island selection passed for 2,752 yards and 42 touchdowns and rushed for 1,027 yards and 10 touchdowns. She added 85 flag pulls and five interceptions.
Savannah Pantry, Floyd, WR/DB, Jr.
Pantry had 58 receptions for 792 yards and 14 touchdowns. She added 60 flag pulls and eight interceptions.
Gianna Ponticello, Plainedge, QB/CB, Jr.
Ponticello has an excellent arm and can make throws all over the field. She passed for 2,190 yards and 32 touchdowns.
Sarah Power, Northport, WR/DB, Sr.
Power had 904 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns. She added 92 flag pulls and eight interceptions.
Malia Rawlins, Roosevelt, QB/S, Jr.
Rawlins guided Roosevelt to a 6-7 record a year after the team went 1-12. She threw for 708 yards and eight touchdowns to go along with 119 rushing yards.
Reese Reustle, Massapequa, WR/LB, Sr.
The 5-7 senior is a leader for Massapequa. She had 700 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

Vinte’ya Rountree, Floyd, RB/WR/LB, Sr.
Rountree flies all over the field. She rushed for 1,013 yards, had 501 receiving yards and totaled 12 touchdowns. She added 94 flag pulls and two interceptions for touchdowns..
Schyler Sacks, Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK, QB, Sr.
Sacks passed for 1,328 yards and 28 touchdowns.
Claire Scalfani, Longwood, QB/LB, Sr.
Scalfani recorded 82 flag pulls and four interceptions. She had 435 receiving yards last season and will now be the team’s quarterback.
Samantha Serrano, West Babylon, RB/WR/Edge, Sr.
The 5-2 senior is an all-around playmaker. She had 1,042 rushing yards, 474 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. She added 29 sacks.
Rielle Solop, Roslyn, QB/LB, Jr.
Solop threw 32 touchdown passes and rushed for four touchdowns. She collected 100 flag pulls and 10 interceptions.
Morgan Sullivan, Locust Valley, QB/DB, Jr.
The dual-threat quarterback rushed for 725 yards, threw for 400 yards and totaled 12 touchdowns.
Nil Tanlak, Port Washington, LB/WR, Jr.
Tanlak had 67 flag pulls, eight interceptions and two defensive touchdowns. She added 38 receptions for 301 yards and four touchdowns.

Danika Tidridge, East Islip, RB/LB, Sr.
The second-team All-Long Island selection has terrific speed. She rushed for 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns and also had 98 flag pulls.
Ella Trama, Sayville, RB/DB, Sr.
Trama has excellent speed and footwork, making her a force with the ball and at cornerback.
Nora Truncale, Glenn, WR/Edge, Sr.
The 5-9 senior totaled 11 touchdowns and 85 flag pulls. She also had two interception returns for touchdowns and a punt return for a touchdown.
