Rain delayed the crowning of Nassau girls tennis champions.

The semifinals and finals were scheduled for Sunday, but although the start time was moved up to 7 a.m., only the semifinals were completed.

The championship matches were postponed to Saturday at Eisenhower Park.

Syosset’s Hannah Wang will face Division’s Lilliana Chou for the singles championship. In doubles, Syosset’s Selena Wang and Juliette Prince will face Great Neck North sisters Lily and Brooke Bullaro.

Nassau girls tennis coordinator and Syosset coach Shai Fisher said though the decision to move the matches was difficult, he would rather play the championships in full than begin playing and pause midmatch.

“[The athletes] keep my head in the game rather than the other way around,” Fisher said. “They’re so focused, they’re so ready and they’ve looked forward to this the entire year. Now we’ll just have to wait until next Saturday and play it out.”

Wang, the second seed, defeated sixth-seeded Clare Seo of Roslyn, 6-4, 7-5, and the top-seeded Chou beat fourth-seeded Tiffany Lin of Hewlett, 6-2, 6-0, in the semifinals.

The seventh-seeded Bullaro sisters defeated No. 2 Christiana Kent and Shoriya Bhat-Bhandakar of Port Washington, 6-4, 6-4, in the quarterfinals on Saturday, then took down the third-seeded Wheatley duo of sisters Sonali and Sarika Prabhakar, 1-6, 6-2, 6-1, in the semifinals Sunday morning.

Great Neck North coach Eric Ragot said he hopes to see their run continue as the Bullaros take on top-seeded Wang and Prince on Saturday.

“We’ll keep reminding them what makes them a good team,” Ragot said. “Which is communicating with each other and relying on them being sisters, which I think helps a great deal. There’s no greater joy as a coach than to see your players perform well and do what they love.”
