Carvel will be selling its classic Flying Saucers ice cream sandwiches for 75 cents on Friday to mark the company’s 75th anniversary, including in Massapequa, where it opened its earliest Long Island stores.

The ice cream company announced on Thursday that the classic 1951 treat would be available in stores nationwide for one day.

The promotion includes flying saucers that "crash landed" at stores in Massapequa, Coney Island and in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The Massapequa store at 998 Hicksville Rd. will be offering free Flying Saucer T-shirts to the first 50 visitors and flying saucer stickers throughout the day, the company said.

Carvel officials said the Massapequa promotion was "a nod to Carvel’s Long Island roots."

"From Tom Carvel’s first roadside stand in 1934 to the creation of the Flying Saucer during the 1950s UFO craze, our brand has always embraced a spirit of imagination and fun," according to a statement by Carvel spokeswoman Marissa Sharpless. "This crash landing is our way of celebrating that legacy and the joy of play that has always been at the heart of Carvel."
