Mets leftfielder Juan Soto has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right calf strain, the team announced Monday.
The move is retroactive to Sunday, April 4. Infielder Ronny Mauricio was called up from Triple-A to take Soto's place on the roster.
Soto appeared to injure himself rounding second and heading to third on Bo Bichette’s RBI single on Friday night in San Francisco, but he wasn’t removed from the game until Tyrone Taylor replaced him in leftfield when the Giants came to bat in the bottom half.
The Mets said Soto's type of injury typically takes two to three weeks to heal from and return to play.
Soto has started the season batting .355 (11-for-31) with a home run, five RBIs and three runs scored. Soto hasn’t done any baseball activity since being removed from Friday’s game in the first inning. Soto is coming off three seasons in which he played 162, 157 and 160 games.
